SnowBall Classic took place on Valentine’s Day weekend. We’d like to thank all the DanceSportBC athletes who took part in the event, as well as all the wonderful volunteers. You were outstanding! Turnout was excellent despite a challenging economy and other factors such as competitions taking place on the same weekend in other cities. Ticket sales were superb on Friday and we enjoyed a near sell-out crowd on Saturday night. Despite lower than normal hotel room night sales than in past years, DSBC members and the SnowBall committee rose to the occasion in many ways. As a result of your efforts, the financial picture for the event is better than expected. Complete financial details are not yet available, but we’ll update members as soon as possible.
What has always set SnowBall Classic apart has been the incredible Vancouver audience, and this year was no exception.
Miha Vodicar and Nadiya Bychkova of Slovenia said, “We will remember the SnowBall Classic competition for its incredible audience and perfect organization. At this competition you can feel love for dancing by every person particpating, especially by the audience which gives you unlimited power and a chance to dance your heart out!”

They weren’t the only ones who talked about the audience. Many couples shared similar praise. “The SnowBall Classic is our favorite competition, because the audience is like no other,” exclaimed California couple Todd Marsden and Susanna Hardt. “And it’s so well organized, we find it hard to believe it’s put together by volunteers,” they added.
“We love the SnowBall audience,” said Robert and Birgit Panther of Germany. “The crowd is so enthusiastic in shouting out support for couples from outside the local area. This is very rare and makes SnowBall Classic one of our favorite competitions,” they explained. A heartfelt thank you to DanceSport BC members and the Vancouver audience!
