I respect that every one is entitled to their own opinions - this is why we are such a diverse and interesting group with the common interest of competitive dancesport.

I have to agree with George's comments that DSBC website has always been very good to hilight DSBC members' achievements and results. Not to take anything away from Winston and Anna's achievements but perhaps an alternative article could have been Crystal Leaf results with each category's results reported and the headline reading ... BC Couple places 1st!!!

Thank you for your comments and thoughts.

Whenever a Canadian couple achieves success at the international level, it is a great reason for all regions of CADA to celebrate and cheer, not just the couple's home region or at the national level. But in no way does the article intend to take away from how proud DanceSport BC should be of Vlad and Maryana. Their placing in front of a panel of IDSF adjudicators was extraordinary and their accomplishment should be celebrated.

As for your concerns regarding Vlad's membership status, it would not be appropriate to discuss an individual's membership here in this public forum. If you have a general question regarding inter-provincial memberships, please post them and we will aim to clarify any concerns.

I have nothing against promoting Canadian dancers. Indeed, Winson and Anna deserve kudos for their placing against such an elite group of athletes from around the world. But I find it odd that this article makes a bigger deal out of a pair of Ontario dancers than it does about our BC dancers placing considerably higher than Winson and Anna. This is the DanceSport BC website and as such should point out the BC placing ahead of the placing of dancers from other provinces. Let the CADA website have the headline about Canada's position and the regional websites highlight the position of their own champions.

I am also curious why DanceSport BC is failing to approve Vlad's membership in the region. Here is a couple who have proven themselves to be more than capable of making an impact on the world scene, and DSBC is refusing to grant membership to this gentleman, who meets all the qualifications. I've heard that the reason is because his prior region of membership doesn't want him to be a member of DSBC. Is that really how DanceSport membership is run? If that's the case, we might see all kinds of regions or countries denying membership to athletes just because another area doesn't want it granted. I've seen no other sport where this kind of political hooliganism is validated.

Can someone from the DSBC board give a valid reason why Vlad's membership is being denied?
